A "walkie" is a prison term for an incarcerated person's close friend. They walk the yard together. They walk to the chow hall together. They spend much of their free time together.

Sydia Bagley
Breaking from the statistics, Sydia runs a successful catering company and hosts an annual event recognizing those returning citizens who have done good in their community. In this episode, she tells the story of a past trauma and how an unlikely program in prison helped her cope.
Karim “Solo” Shamsiddeen

A Different Perspective
Shuja Moore, the show’s creator, was incarcerated for 12 years. In his quest for restorative justice, he created Walkies as a template for those at risk, exposing them to the pitfalls of urban life and how to find a better path.
